Yojiro Imasaka is the second artist taking part in the “TSUNAGU -Omotesando Street Art Project”, an initiative aimed at improving Tokyo’s landscape through the public installation of artworks.
The project was initiated by Fendi Japan: on the occasion of the construction of its new upcoming store in the Omotesando area in Tokyo, they decided to cover the building with artworks by three selected artists.
The name of the project “TSUNAGU” – which means connect, hope – stems from the desire to convey the positive message and energy of ‘rebirth’ through various works of art in the busy streets of Harajuku Omotesando, a place of transit where thousands of people pass by every day.
The three artworks presented by Yojiro Imasaka are photographs taken in Europe, Japan and the US. They all picture natural landscapes and areas that have been significantly affected by natural disasters as a consequence of climate change. By showing these images on the streets of Tokyo, the artist wants to raise public awarness on the effects of the environmental crisis, as well as foster hope on the active role that humanity can play in the resolution of the problem.

Yojiro Imasaka è il secondo artista che partecipa al “TSUNAGU -Omotesando Street Art Project”, un’iniziativa volta a migliorare il paesaggio di Tokyo attraverso l’installazione pubblica di opere d’arte.
Il progetto è stato avviato da Fendi Giappone: in occasione della costruzione del suo nuovo negozio di prossima apertura nella zona di Omotesando a Tokyo, ha deciso di rivestire l’edificio con opere d’arte di tre artisti selezionati.
Il nome del progetto “TSUNAGU” – che significa collegare, sperare – nasce dal desiderio di trasmettere il messaggio positivo e l’energia della ‘rinascita’ attraverso varie opere d’arte nelle strade trafficate di Harajuku Omotesando, un luogo di transito dove passano migliaia di persone ogni giorno.
Le tre opere presentate da Yojiro Imasaka sono fotografie scattate in Europa, Giappone e Stati Uniti. Tutte ritraggono paesaggi e aree naturali che sono state significativamente danneggiate da disastri naturali causati dal cambiamento climatico. Mostrando queste immagini per le strade di Tokyo, l’artista vuole sensibilizzare l’opinione pubblica sugli effetti della crisi ambientale e alimentare la speranza sul ruolo attivo che l’umanità può svolgere nella risoluzione del problema.
