Curated by Ilaria Bignotti and Maria Savarese

The artists, selected on the basis of their empathic sensitivity and put together pairwise in the spaces of the Gallery, present some unpublished works created specifically for this project.

This triggers a dialogue that revolves around the themes of individual and collective memory, the persistence of knowledge and the transformation of the image, the resistance of materials to the resilience of languages, in a stimulating semantic and iconographic coming and going that questions the categories of history and of Western and Mediterranean visual culture.

Hence the title of the project, Stanze, which in fact suggests the idea of a place, the exhibition, where the work consciously stops and inhabits and at the same time lives and breathes, transforming itself through the gaze and the interpretation of the user, changing it itself, between persistence and turbulence of the image, stagnancy and migration of its message.

I sei artisti presenti in mostra sono stati selezionati in base alla loro sensibilità empatica e accostati a due a due negli spazi della Galleria, con alcune opere inedite realizzate appositamente per questo progetto.

Si innesca quindi un dialogo che ruota attorno ai temi della memoria individuale e collettiva, della persistenza del sapere e della trasformazione dell’immagine, della resistenza dei materiali rispetto alla resilienza dei linguaggi, in un sollecitante andirivieni semantico e iconografico che interroga le categorie della storia e della cultura visuali occidentale e mediterranea.

Da qui il titolo del progetto, Stanze, che infatti suggerisce l’idea di un luogo, quello espositivo, dove l’opera consapevolmente sosta e abita e al contempo vive e respira, trasformandosi attraverso lo sguardo e l’interpretazione del fruitore, mutando essa stessa, tra persistenza e turbolenza dell’immagine, stanzialità e migrazione del suo messaggio.
