Quayola’s video installation Pleasant Places is presented in the immersive bubble of the atrium as a preamble to the exhibition “La forêt magique”, and it immediately immerses you in a great bath of nature.
The artist filmed the Provençal countryside in ultra high definition stills, then, from this photographic material, he produced computer-generated images that create the material of a moving painting. The trees agitated by the mistral dance before our eyes; their movements hypnotize us. We are plunged into a living painting, between realistic photography and abstraction.
How have artists represented the forest? What virtues, what powers, what attention have they given it? This exhibition offers a powerful experience and an immersion into the heart of the imaginary world of the forest, based on a limited number of works (paintings, installations, film extracts), from different artists. An exhibition that is both aesthetic and militant, eco-designed and that will reveal the artists’ early ecological intuition.

La videoinstallazione Pleasant Places di Quayola è presentata nella bolla immersiva dell’atrio come preambolo alla mostra “La forêt magique”, e immerge immediatamente in un grande bagno di natura.
L’artista ha filmato la campagna provenzale in fotogrammi ad altissima definizione, poi, a partire da questo materiale fotografico, ha prodotto immagini generate al computer che creano la materia di un dipinto in movimento. Gli alberi agitati dal maestrale danzano davanti ai nostri occhi, i loro movimenti ci ipnotizzano. Siamo immersi in un quadro vivente, tra fotografia realistica e astrazione.
Come hanno rappresentato la foresta gli artisti? Quali virtù, quali poteri, quale attenzione le hanno riservato? Questa mostra offre un’esperienza potente e un’immersione nel cuore del mondo immaginario della foresta, basata su un numero limitato di opere (dipinti, installazioni, estratti di film), di artisti diversi. Una mostra al tempo stesso estetica e militante, eco-progettata e che rivelerà le prime intuizioni ecologiche degli artisti.
