After almost two years of forced stop, “Dökk” the project by fuse* is hitting the road once again on a tour that will bring them from one side of the world to the other.
The first stop of the tour will be the 30th September 2022 at STUDIO teatrgaleria in Warsaw on the occasion of Rozdroże Festival. The 26th edition will present an array of innovative work created by artists working on the intersection of performing and visual arts.
Dökk is a journey through the subconscious mind, where reality is represented by worlds and universes that take form and dissolve within the mind, as it constantly seeks a balance between light and darkness.
Dökk is an Icelandic word that means darkness. In some cultures, the absence of light may be interpreted as a metaphor for life on Earth and of the perception of reality represented as a shadow cast by a light that cannot be seen yet the existence of which may only be sensed. Starting out from this concept, the narrative was developed through the creation of ten rooms that make up a circular path in which the end coincides with a new beginning.
The Italian term stanza (‘room’) may reflect a variety of meanings: it could be a well-defined physical space that isolates us from the outside world, but it could also be imagined as a mental space inside which to construct our own vision of reality, or in the literary field, it refers to a verse of a longer poem. The rooms of Dökk are the result of the coming together of these meanings in a single form of symbolism that accompanies the whole narrative. Inside these places of the mind, universes are constructed that evoke the various stages of life. The stage becomes a space in which it is possible to lose one’s perception of space and time: a place of the mind in which reality is reconstructed as the result of one’s own actions, and in which every gesture has its own particular consequence.

Dopo quasi due anni di pausa forzata, “Dökk”, il progetto dei fuse*, torna in pista con un tour che li porterà da una parte all’altra del mondo.
La prima tappa del tour sarà il 30 settembre 2022 presso lo STUDIO teatrgaleria di Varsavia in occasione del Rozdroże Festival. La 26a edizione presenterà una serie di lavori innovativi creati da artisti che lavorano sull’intersezione tra arti performative e visive.
Dökk è un viaggio nell’inconscio, dove la realtà viene rappresentata da mondi ed universi che si disegnano e si dissolvono nella mente, alla costante ricerca di un equilibrio tra luce e buio.
Dökk è una parola islandese che significa buio. In alcune culture l’assenza di luce può essere interpretata come una metafora della vita terrena e della percezione della realtà rappresentata come l’ombra di una luce che non si può vedere ma di cui si può solo intuire l’esistenza. Partendo da questo concetto è stata sviluppata la narrazione attraverso la creazione di dieci stanze che formano un percorso circolare in cui la fine coincide con un nuovo inizio.
Il termine stanza può assumere diversi significati: è uno spazio fisico ben definito che isola dal mondo esterno, ma può anche essere immaginata come uno spazio mentale all’interno del quale costruire la propria visione della realtà, o, in ambito letterario, una porzione di una grande poema. Le stanze di Dökk sono il risultato dell’unione di questi significati in un’unica simbologia che accompagna l’intera narrazione. All’interno di questi luoghi della mente sono costruiti universi che evocano diverse fasi della vita. Il palcoscenico diventa uno spazio in cui è possibile perdere la percezione dello spazio e del tempo, un luogo della mente in cui viene ricostruita la realtà come il risultato delle proprie stesse azioni ed in cui ogni gesto ha una conseguenza precisa.
