Starting April 15, Arthur Duff’s work “The Hungriest Eye.The Blossoming of Potential” will be the first project of Art Studio, situated in the House of The Human Safety Net, Procuratie Vecchie, Venice.
The biennial project, with the curatorship of historian and art critic Luca Massimo Barbero, will expose works by artists whose sensitivities and creativity blend with the values of The Human Safety Net and are created specifically for the Studio’s spaces. These works are closely related to the content and visitor experience in the “A World of Potential” exhibition, which includes a large open space dedicated to art which captures social issues.
Arthur Duff has taken inspiration from extraordinary nineteenth-century Japanese woodblock prints in order to catch an element of wonder, like the fireworks.
As the curator explained, the artist has created an intimate and visually intense experience that starts conceptually from the history of the visual, the ephemeral and the marvelous, such as the great Oriental firework tradition. He returns it to the modern world in the centre of Piazza San Marco.
Duff’s installation will be a great experience: it is not just an artistic work, but a device in which different elements meet: perseverance, curiosity, team intelligence and the artist’s conceptual thinking.

A partire dal 15 aprile 2023 l’istallazione di Arthur Duff “The Hungriest Eye.The Blossoming of Potential” sarà il primo progetto dell’Art Studio che si trova all’interno della Casa di The Human Safety Net presso le Procuratie Vecchie a Venezia.
Il progetto di durata biennale, sotto la curatela dello storico e critico d’arte Luca Massimo Barbero, esporrà opere di artisti, affini per sensibilità e creatività ai valori di The Human Safety Net, realizzate appositamente per gli spazi della Casa che dialogano strettamente con i contenuti e l’esperienza del percorso espositivo “A World of Potential”, all’interno del quale si colloca l’ampio open space dedicato all’arte in dialogo con il sociale.
L’artista Arthur Duff parte da straordinarie xilografie giapponesi ottocentesche per catturare un elemento di meraviglia come sono i fuochi d’artificio.
Riprendendo le parole del curatore “Duff crea un momento raccolto e visivamente forte che concettualmente parte dalla storia della visione, dell’effimero e del meraviglioso come la grande tradizione Orientale dei fuochi d’artificio, e lo riporta alla contemporaneità nel centro di Piazza San Marco. La sua installazione sarà una grande esperienza: non è solo un’opera, ma un dispositivo in cui si incontrano più elementi, la perseveranza, la curiosità, l’intelligenza di squadra, il pensiero concettuale dell’artista.”
